Poverty
While the municipal level of government may not have jurisdiction over every cause of poverty, we do possess the power and influence to drive meaningful change.
Shape policy: We can break the cycle of poverty right here in Midland. By shaping local policies that treat housing, transit, and public spaces as essential tools for economic equity, we ensure no resident—from our youth to our seniors—is left behind.
Higher support: Use municipal influence to convene, build partnerships, and advocate to other levels of government for funding and support.
Expand Affordable and Supportive Housing: Capitalize on upper-level government funding (provincial and federal) to expand housing infrastructure.
Fund Impactful Non-Profits: Maximize the reach of the Town of Midland Community Grant Program to provide stable financial support to vital local agencies, including the Knox Church Gift of Grace Soup Kitchen, The Salvation Army, and Big Brothers Big Sisters of North Simcoe.
Connect Residents to Emergency Resources: Seamlessly bridge the gap between vulnerable residents and critical safety nets. This includes promoting 211 Ontario for immediate crisis, food, and mental health support, alongside specialized regional funds like the United Way Simcoe Muskoka Home Relief Bank and Urgent Needs Fund.
Our Mayor: Ensure that Midland representation at the County Level is advocating for Midland, presenting an accurate picture of our needs.
For a Midland where everyone can afford to live, grow, and belong.
